You Can’t Go Home developed from my feelings of home-sickness. I began interviewing artists who live around me in New York. I would visit them where they lived, and ask questions about what the word “home” meant to them. Were they looking for it? Were they finding it? It was a way of connecting to other people who are trying to inhabit and make art in this paradoxically harsh and vital environment.
